At Lexis Japan, we host monthly language exchange events with students from Konan Women’s University.
Whether we’re exploring Kobe city together, cooking traditional Japanese dishes, or sampling local sweets, these gatherings have become incredibly popular among students who want to practice Japanese, build international friendships, and experience Japanese culture in a warm and authentic way.
Our partnership with Konan Women’s University began thanks to one student — Rinako.
She previously studied abroad at Lexis Brisbane, and through her amazing experience there, she learned about Lexis Japan.
That inspired her to reach out and say, “Why don’t we collaborate?”
And that one message sparked a connection that’s now giving many students the chance to join international exchange activities right here in Kobe.
It’s a perfect example of how study abroad experiences can keep creating opportunities long after students return home.
At this month’s event, our director Ian joined in to observe and speak with the students.
We took photos together and had a great time, but the highlight was definitely when Rinako showed up with the Lexis bag she used during her studies in Brisbane!
Ian was so excited to see it — and, so were we.
Moments like this remind us how deeply students stay connected to Lexis, even across countries and through the passage of time.
The connections formed through Lexis continue to grow — transcending borders, languages, and generations.
We hope these events help students gain confidence, make new friends, and broaden their perspectives through genuine cross‑cultural exchange.
We look forward to continuing our work with universities and local communities, creating more opportunities for international engagement and real‑life language practice.
Here’s to watching this wonderful connection grow even more.
