Every month at Lexis, we host a language exchange event called “Meet Up,” where students and local residents come together to connect through conversation and cultural experiences.
This month, we visited a tea garden in Kobe. After a 20-minute walk up a quiet mountain path, we arrived at a breathtaking landscape filled with vibrant green tea plants.

Surrounded by fresh greenery, we enjoyed rich matcha tea and matcha roll cake made from freshly picked tea leaves while spending time chatting and getting to know one another.

In Japan, May marks the season of shincha — the first tea harvested of the year. Shincha is especially valued for its fresh aroma, rich flavor, and high nutritional content.
Being able to taste freshly harvested tea in such a beautiful setting made this a truly special experience that can only be enjoyed once a year.
